Terms of Use

These terms govern the use of stateguessr.com and all games, account features, leaderboards, and related services offered there. By registering or using stateguessr, you accept these terms.

Using stateguessr is generally free of charge. Some features, especially permanent storage of scores, rankings, settings, and mastery history, may require a user account. You must provide accurate information during registration and keep your access credentials confidential. Authenticated users can export their personal account data and request account deletion from the user area.

Profiles are public by default, and you may switch them to a friends-only private mode. In that private mode, non-friends can still see your username, that the account exists, and leaderboard entries needed to send a friend request, but they do not receive your full profile details. Avatar uploads are reviewed by administrators before they replace the live image, and pending avatars remain visible only to the uploading user until approval. Friendship features are intended for normal player-to-player interaction only. You may not use profile, avatar, or friend features to impersonate others, harass users, or evade moderation.

The service may keep exact target-level mastery history for live non-ranking games so players can review first-try mastery progress in the mastery book. Ranking and archived games are excluded from that tracking.

The support inbox is provided for legitimate service requests, bug reports, and feature requests. You must not use it to send spam, abusive material, unlawful content, malware, or other prohibited material, and you should not upload attachments that you do not have the right to share. Guests may open tickets, but login may be required to read replies. Support tickets can be closed, moderated, or removed under these terms, and attachment uploads are limited by size, type, and count for security reasons.

You may use stateguessr only in compliance with these terms and applicable law. This applies to your account and to any content, data, or other input you submit through the service.

In particular, you must not:

• submit or distribute false, unlawful, or misleading content where doing so violates laws, third-party rights, or official requirements;
• send spam, chain messages, or other abusive communications through any contact or interaction features we provide;
• use or upload copyrighted, trademarked, or otherwise protected material without the required authorization;
• use the service for unlawful, anti-competitive, insulting, discriminatory, racist, pornographic, or otherwise offensive purposes;
• circumvent security mechanisms, access restrictions, game rules, rate limits, or other technical protection measures;
• use bots, scripts, scrapers, or other automated methods to abuse the service or manipulate results;
• use multiple accounts, technical workarounds, or other manipulations to unfairly influence leaderboards, daily scores, or other gameplay systems.

We may restrict, suspend, or remove content, scores, accounts, or other uses if there are concrete indications of a breach of these terms, applicable law, or the integrity of gameplay. This may also include review by authorized administrators and deletion of user accounts where necessary for moderation, abuse prevention, or legal compliance.

To ensure fair and enjoyable gameplay for all users, we reserve the right to review account activity for indications of misuse, automated access, or other behavior that may affect the integrity of the game or its leaderboards. Where there are concrete indications of such behavior, for example unusually high volumes of gameplay within short timeframes that are not consistent with normal use, we may take appropriate measures to protect the fairness of the service. These measures may include, in particular, excluding affected accounts from leaderboard visibility. Such measures are applied solely to maintain fair competition and do not affect the general ability to use and play the games. We do not take action based solely on strong performance, high scores, or skill. The focus is exclusively on protecting the integrity and proper use of the service. In cases of serious or harmful misuse of the service, including but not limited to attempts to disrupt the platform, bypass technical protections, or otherwise interfere with operations, we reserve the right to further restrict or remove access to the service in accordance with applicable law.

To the extent that you submit content or information that may be protected by copyright or similar rights, you confirm that you are entitled to do so. You grant us a non-exclusive right to store, technically process, and display that content within the service to the extent required to operate stateguessr.

We do not guarantee that stateguessr will be available at all times, without interruption, or free of errors. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the service or individual features at any time, subject to any mandatory legal rights.

We are liable for our own content in accordance with applicable law. For content submitted by users, external links, or third-party information, we do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Otherwise, we are liable only in cases of intent and gross negligence, subject to statutory exceptions.

The content, text, graphics, game concepts, and other materials published on stateguessr are protected by copyright or other rights unless stated otherwise. Any use beyond what is legally permitted requires our prior consent or the consent of the respective rights holder.

We may update these terms for the future if there is an objective reason to do so, especially due to legal, technical, or operational changes. We will point out material changes on the website in an appropriate manner. The German version is authoritative.
